One painting book entitled Happy Moments Crayon and Painting Book, published by Goldsmith Publishing Co., Cleveland, Ohio, copyright 1926, Series Number 646. The cover illustration, signed by George Lawson AA, shows an organ grinder with his monkey, a mother and her son, and two children dancing. On inside cover is the subtitle "With many pictures of Animals[,] Children at play, Circus scenes[,] and Mother Goose". There are 47 pages of images, some of which have been color printed to demonstrate color schemes. Some images have been colored in using wax crayon, and at least one has been painted. The front cover illustration is signed "Geo. Lawson AA."

One painting book entitled Art Studies for Little People: Landscapes, published by McLoughlin Bros., New York, copyright 1902. The title page reads: Object Painting Book. This book is comprised of 8 leaves of chromolithograph plates: half in full color and half in dull green and black tones, intended for coloring by the student. The front cover is a chromolithograph of a house on a hillside, and cherry trees in bloom. "Copyright 1901 by McLoughlin Bros., New York" is printed in the lower left-hand corner. The back cover is blank, except for the Mother Goose logo in the lower right-hand corner, and "No. 83 1/2" printed below it. The inside of the front cover is illustrated with a palette containing 5 colors. "Directions for Using the Colors Printed on Other Half of Cover" are printed on the inside of the back cover. The title page, which bears a different title from that on the front cover ("Object Painting Book"), is decorated with line drawings. "Copyright 1902" is printed at the bottom of the title page. The images in the book are accompanied by rhymes and poems. None of the images have been colored in.

Great Big Drawing and Tracing Book

One joint drawing and tracing book entitled Great Big Drawing and Tracing Book, published by McLoughlin Bros., Springfield, Massachusetts, ca. 1928. This book is comprised of 8 leaves of illustrations for tracing, copying and coloring, and 8 leaves of tracing paper. The front and back covers are chromolithograph illustrations; the front cover features a boy drawing and a girl at play, the back cover illustration is of a seated child drawing. Above her are the words: "A thing of beauty is a joy forever." "510" is printed in the lower left-hand corner of the front cover. The illustrations within this book are grouped by category, and each leaf is labeled: "Little Folks Friends (toys); Feathered Friends; Four Footed Friends; Fruits and [has been cut out]; The Farmer and the Goose (signed by Rhoda Chase); Towser and the Snow Man (also signed by Rhoda Chase); and Mothers Sewing Circle." Many of the images have been traced and colored in. "Alice Brown, Dec. 25, 1928" is written in ms., in pencil, at the top of the back cover. One drawing book entitled The New Progressive Drawing Book, Containing Lithographic Sketches, and Drawings of Landscape Scenery, Designed for Self Instruction, published by C.P. Huestis, New York, 1847. This drawing book is 24 unnumbered pages in length and contains lithograph images only (no text). There are several different images per page, some of which are landscapes and seascapes. Title and publication information on the front cover are within a simple frame ornamented by acorns. The insides of the front and back covers are blank, and the back cover is a publisher's advertisement from C.P. Huestis. "35-" (price) is written in ms. in the upper right-hand corner of the front cover.

Drawing Horses

One drawing book entitled Drawing Horses, by Victor Perard, published by Pitman Publishing Corporation, New York and Chicago, copyright 1944. This book is 64 unnumbered pages in length, and provides step-by-step instructions for drawing horses and similar animals, such as mules and donkeys. All of the images are in black and white, and most pages contain at least some instructional text. The front cover is printed in brown on green paper; it features several images below the title from within the book. The imagery on the back cover is a duplicate of the front cover. "$1.00" is printed in the lower right-hand corner of the front and back covers. The inside of the front cover is blank; the inside of the back cover is a publisher's advertisement for "Pitman Art Series by Victor Perard." Laid inside the front cover are two newspaper clippings, dated 1951 and 1947 respectively.

Drawing Book of Butterflies

One drawing book entitled Drawing Book of Butterflies, published by (compliments of) L.M. Brock & Co., Lynn, Massachusetts, ca. 1910. This drawing book is a promotional piece for Mrs. Dinsmore's Cough and Croup Balsam. It contains 8 pages of black and white images of butterflies and tracing paper in front of each page, for copying. The front and back covers are chromolithographs; the front cover features several butterflies and paint brushes, the back cover image is a little girl in a pink hat, standing next to a vase of roses. The inside front and back cover feature promotional and advertising text. Some of the images have been traced onto the tracing paper, and some of the traced and original images have been colored in with crayons.
