    Notes on right side describe the various routes and when they were used. "About this map... The background map was created for use in a promotional brochure for the radio program 'Death Valley Days' in 1931. Comments by Ed Stiles from Oral History of Ed Stiles. The photograph of the Twenty Mule Team on the bottom was staged and shot on Coyote Lake near Borate in 1892. It became the official Borax trademark photograph for more than 40 years and appeared on all Twenty Mule Team products." Presented to the Huntington Library by Mr. Ted Faye, March 1999.
