Men, women, and children stand on and around a train about to depart from Los Angeles. This part of the Union Pacific train, known as the 63 hour car, was traveling from Los Angeles to Chicago. The people are wearing their Sunday best and waving hats and handkerchiefs at each other. A round sign mounted on the back railing of the car reads "Los Angeles Limited".
