Photographers chiefly unidentified; a photographs for "Ted Lewis" include the imprint of the White Studio of New York (page 66). These shows, known as "Ideas," were produced by the Los Angeles-based theatrical production team of Fanchon and Marco. The photographs document stages, often with ornate set designs, rehearsals, dance and musical numbers, costumes, and group and single portraits of dancers, musicians, and actors for shows performed from approximately 1932 to 1936. Some of the photographs include imprints for Archer's Art Shop, Irving Archer, and Irving Archer Studios of Hollywood, California, and a few have White Studio of New York City (see pages 204-205); two of the California Exposition at Balboa Park in San Diego, California, contain the imprint of John Sirgio (pages 22 and 24); and page 220 has the imprint of Peerless Photo of Los Angeles. The photographs were originally housed in a custom binder and comprise volume 13 of a 16-volume set that served as a visual inventory for hundreds of Fanchon & Marco performances.
